I’m sure you have heard over and over again how important it is for your business to have a social media presence. You can get your business on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+, but if you don’t know how to effectively use these mediums, it can actually be detrimental. Here are a few tips on how to make the most of your social networking.
1. Post Interesting Content Your Followers Want to Read
Don’t use social media to just post promotional material. You want to post content that is going to engage your users. If you are a shoe website, for example, instead of just posting links to the shoes you are selling over and over, why not post links to interesting shoe blogs and cool DIY videos about how to make your own galaxy shoes? The key is to get your followers’ attention so that they will then want to explore your website and your business.
2. Use A Down-To-Earth Voice and Connect With Customers
Don’t just post your content and have that be the end of it. If a customer comments on something you have posted, acknowledge their comment and continue the conversation. Use a laid back voice that sounds fun and down to earth. Be more conversational in general so that your customers will want to engage with your posts.
3. Be Consistent With Your Posts
You don’t want to post 10 times a day on Facebook and over load all of your followers’ news feeds. On the other hand, you don’t want to post once a month and have everyone forget about you. Find the volume that works for you and your followers on each social media site that you have and then be consistent. Maybe you could even try posting some things only on Twitter or only on Facebook so that your followers on each site get the sense that they are seeing original content posted specifically for them.
